One of the best tournaments of the year. The legendary summer night tournament, allows anglers to fish until 3 AM. Those competing must do two weigh-ins. Each weigh-in consists of the best two fish caught during that round. Livewells are checked, the boat numbers called out, and within minutes the throttle is hammered down as the boats go up on plane and shoot across the lake.
Jordan fished as a co-angler with ABA Director Danny Davis. The two launched from the ramps at Sand Hollow State Park. Previously Jordan spent the week pre-fishing the lake. He had locations picked, baits identified, and a good idea where the bass was hanging out.
Tonight they were going to go after the big ones! This meant a transition from the typical drop-shot and wacky rigs. Tonight it was all or nothing. Jordan knew he could catch on the traditional baits but tonight he was going after bigger fish and this meant gambling on a different rig.
The water temps had risen, and the bass was transitioning from bluegill to larger baits and moving to cooler waters. If they were going to catch that night, they would have to hunker down and grind out the night no matter what the catch was. Tonight was about moving water.
Their plan paid off, they weighed in at 10 PM with over 7 pounds. They were leading the pack into the second round, but still, they needed to catch the kickers. The bite turned off for a couple of hours as midnight rolled around and then Jordan received a text message from another tournament angler that was not able to fish the night’s tournament. It read:

This message was exactly what Jordan needed. As he read those words something happened to him. Call it a boost of energy, a renewal of desire, a boost in passion for the sport he was fishing. He turned to Danny and said, let’s go get’m. The rest is history. By 3 AM they had landed two monsters pushing them well over the 14LB total weigh-in earning the 2nd Place in the the coveted SUB Night Tournament. There were 25 Teams and to take second was a proud moment for the Young Hammer. Through dedication and hard work, he went home that night with a trophy and a pocket full of cash. He contributes his success to the text message that he received at the time that he needed it the most.
