Jordan began tournament fishing at age 13.  Impressed by his love of fishing, a semi-pro tournament angler (Danny Davis- Representative for ABA/Utah South) invited him to fish with him in a night tournament.  Let’s just say he was hooked after that.  He knew he had to start at the bottom and work hard to accomplish his dream of one-day fishing competitively.  So that is exactly what he did.

He soon began fishing with Redrock Bass, a Highschool Club Fishing Team organized by semi-pro Clif Gallagher located in St. George UT.   Absorbing all the knowledge he could get from local anglers,  he soon found himself winning tournaments.  He advanced quickly earning Angler of Year in 2021 for Redrock Bass and competed in ten qualifying tournaments that landed him 50 points over other anglers, giving him a spot at the Bass Master Highschool Nationals at Lake Hartwell, SC Aug 11-13, 2022.

Advancing in the sport, he started fishing in adult tournaments.  First club fishing with SUBA  (Souther Utah Bass Anglers) where he went up against some of the best anglers in Utah.  Later he started fishing UBTT another tournament series. Proving himself ready, he joined ABA (American Bass Association) where he currently holds 3rd place for Angler of the Year.  He took second place in his first ABA tournament landing his PB (a 7.07 lb Largemouth).  He has fished all over Utah, California, and Idaho and made it as far east as Table Rock, MO where he bagged a 5lb largemouth and his first-ever spotted bass.

The community has rallied around this young man encouraging him to keep following his dream of being a pro-fisherman.  He is also receiving personal one-on-one training from Anglers such as Danny Davis, Clif Gallagher, Greg Ciacomazza, and many others.

His proudest day fishing was when he fished his first ABA tournament with his Dad (Aaron Werner) as co-angler.  He caught a 7lb bass. So excited about the catch, he could not help but give his dad the biggest hug you could imagine.

He was able to fish every day for four months without missing a day.  Logging over 120 days of continual fishing with clsoe to 500 hours logged during that time.  He learned to master some of the more challenging and advanced techniques.

During this journey into the bass community, he met a lot of friends along the way.  There is not a single day that goes by that he does not recognize someone at the docks.   He is often seen helping young kids catch their first bass, showing them how to drop shot or Texas rig.

As he progressed and his Instagram account started growing with followers, he received his first sponsor “Gitzit Inc.”, and later landed one of his favorite jig makers in the world…the legendary Pig Jigs.   Pig Jigs started supporting him on a daily basis, encouraging him to “be good”, “do good” and “stay away from the negativity and bad influences in the world”.   They started calling him “Young Hammer” and it stuck.  Today his boat has Young Hammer stickers on it and it is not surprising when other anglers recognize him from Youtube and call out “Young Hammer”.

He continued to attract sponsors and eventually was backed by Power-Poles out-fitting his 97 Champion with a set of those wicked sticks.  He is preparing for the Bass Master Abu Garcia High School Nationals and loving every minute of it.  He just launched his youtube channel called “YoungHammerBassFishing” as well as his Instagram account that goes by the same name.  Make sure to check those out, give him a follow and if you see him on the lake say “Hi, Young Hammer”
